Not canon…

This is the Japanese Anime.. .

… if that is not canon then I give up.  What in the hell are we calling it then? 

How in the world is that not canon

I guess some fans don’t accept that the anime is a canon of its own. Just because something happens there and not the manga doesn’t automatically mean that it’s not canon. It’s not canon for the manga, true, but we’re not talking about that in this instance.

I have nothing against people who prefer the manga, that’s fine. But I really wish they would stop saying that things that happen in the show aren’t canon to the show. They happened. You don’t have to like that they happened, but that doesn’t change the fact that they did.

Yeah, can we stop with the canon/not canon war?  There are separate canons, and every person also separately decides which pieces of everything that they separately incorporate into their own unified inner canon.

Let us not forget the work of god, Kazuki Takahashi himself, admitted that he wrote the Millennium World arc when he was terribly sick and being pressured by his publishers to finish quickly, forcing him to cut out much of what he wanted to add, and HE STATED SPECIFICALLY that you might as well take the anime version of this arc as the original canon since it addressed things that he had wanted to address himself but didn’t have time or energy to.

So in other words, if anything in the anime is irrevocable canon, it’s this arc.
